    From November, the Central Applications Office (CAO) will be accepting applications for the Bachelor of Education through the medium of Irish programme which will commence in Marino Institute of Education in September. As part of the course entry process, applicants will be required to take the Teastas Eorpach na Gaeilge (TEG) Meánleibhéal 1 (B1) Irish-language examination. Applicants must achieve 50% or higher in this examination to satisfy entry requirements. All language skills will be tested in this examination: Speaking, Listening Comprehension, Writing and Reading Comprehension. You will find further information and sample papers below.

    Exam centres: The exam will be run in centres around the country based on demand. 

    Marino Institute of Education will refund the TEG exam fee to applicants who pass the TEG B1 exam and who register as students on the Bachelor of Education through the medium of Irish programme.

    Are there any extra CAO points for having a Pass (50% or higher) in the TEG Meánleibhéal 1 (B1) Examination?

    Yes. With regard to CAO points for the Baitsiléir san Oideachas Trí Mheán na Gaeilge only, 40 extra points will be awarded to each candidate who obtains a Pass (50% or higher) in the TEG Meánleibhéal 1 (B1) examination. 40 points is the maximum number of points which will be awarded and no extra points beyond that will be awarded to any candidate who obtains a mark higher than 50% in the B1 exam, or to candidates who have passed TEG exams at higher levels than B1. This applies only to the Baitsiléir san Oideachas Trí Mheán na Gaeilge. If you have any questions, please contact Marino Institute of Education directly on 01 805 7700. 

    When will the results of this examination be issued?

    Results will be issued at the end of March.
