  • January 2012

You can now register and pay for 2012 exams (A1 - B2). See details here.

Please note that it is no longer possible for adult applicants at levels A1 - B2 to use a printed application form.

  • July 2011

    Teaching Council recognition for TEG

The Department of Education and Skills has accepted Teastas Eorpach na Gaeilge Level B2 as meeting the Irish language entry requirement for primary education programmes.

This is a great opportunity for people who would like to enter the teaching profession but who do not have the necessary Irish language qualifications (e.g. Leaving Certificate Higher Level Irish) for the colleges of education. Unlike the Leaving Certificate Higher Level Irish syllabus and examination, the TEG B2 syllabus and exam are designed with the adult learner in mind which greatly enhances the learning experience.

TEG B2 exam takes place on 21 April 2012 in the following centres, subject to demand: Maynooth, Cork, Killarney, Limerick, An Spidéal, Castlebar, Belfast, Letterkenny and Gaoth Dobhair. Preparatory courses for TEG exams are run in various education centres throughout the country. The Language Centre at NUI Maynooth provides teaching materials and supports for teachers and learners free of charge. For more information, call 01 7086417/7083737 or email teanga@nuim.ie.
