teg is an examination system for adult learners of Irish that is linked to the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages (Council of Europe, 2001). Examinations test the four skills: Speaking, Listening Comprehension, Reading Comprehension and Writing. Examinations are currently available at five levels from Absolute Beginners (A1) to Advanced 1 (C1). A further level, Advanced 2 (C2), is in the process of development.
On this site you will find lots of information including information on the six different examination levels, advice for examination candidates, information on learning resources and some useful information for employers.
You can download the syllabi, study written and aural sample exam papers, find out when and where examinations are held and locate centres where Irish is taught to adults based on the teg syllabi. We also have information for teachers who may wish to enter students for the exams.
We hope you find our website interesting and useful. If you would like to contact us with any queries you may have, we will be pleased to help in whatever way we can.
Beir bua!
